About the Department of Economics:
Mahamayee Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Berhampur is an Aided Educational Institution imparting Higher education for women in Graduation level, this institution was established in 1981 in the district of Ganjam, Odisha. It extends teaching facilities in Humanities, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, Commerce. The Department of Economics was established in the year 2016 with 16 number of seats and is committed to provide students with elective mix of pure practical, analytical as well as theoretical knowledge in the areas of Micro Economics, Macro Economics, Public Economics, Mathematical Economics, Money and Banking, understanding Indian and International economy and its system etc. The Economics Department at Mahamayee Mahila Mahavidyalaya offers BA Degree with Economics Honors. The teaching methodology seeks to provide students with a strong theoretical foundation and to create a continuous interest and involvement with the real life implementation of theories for economics issues.

Programme Outcome:
After completion of B.A Programme in Economics Honors, the students will be well trained with the major concepts and principles of economics. This will encourage them to analyze the basic economic ideas in practice and to learn the present and past economic condition of the country. Students will link how economic activities like production, consumption, distribution etc. are organized by the markets and understand the economy behavior. They will also acquire knowledge about national income, employment, inflation, deflation, business cycle, monetary and fiscal policy and the banking system which is the most important concepts in the growing economy. Students will acquire analytical and reasoning skill and will be able to predict about possible economic outcomes based on economic theories and will be equipped with quantitative analytical skills with the help of which they will be able to collect, tabulate, present and analyze data to support economic decision making, research work etc.

As the undergraduate CBCS programme is at same level in all over the country, students will be immensely benefitted to gather understanding about the subject Economics equally with the students of other parts of India. The programme is such that students can choose any of the subject of their preference, may it be from any stream which is of maximum importance to unlock the potential of students for their respective career.
